Lumen ("we", "our", "us") is a faith-based mobile application designed to help believers grow in their walk with God. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and username. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from those services.

Profile information: The sins/struggles you select during onboarding, your language preference, and your subscription status.

Content you create: Posts, comments, and any content you share in the community forums. Anonymous posts are stored with your user ID for moderation purposes but are never displayed publicly with your identity.

Activity data: We track which features you use (sins viewed, verses searched, characters read) to personalize your experience — such as the daily verse and The Guide conversations. This data is used solely for personalization and is never sold or shared with third parties.

Device information: We may collect basic device information (device type, operating system) for debugging and improving the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and personalize the Lumen experience
• To display your daily verse based on your spiritual journey
• To match you with accountability partners (Lumen+ only)
• To moderate community content and enforce community guidelines
• To process subscriptions via Apple App Store or Google Play
• To send essential account emails (confirmation, password reset)

3. What We Never Do

• We never sell your personal data to anyone
• We never share your selected sins or struggles with other users
• We never share your data with advertisers for targeting
• We never read your Guide conversations — they are processed by a language model and not stored beyond the session
• We never reveal the identity behind anonymous posts to other users

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS) with row-level security enabled. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

5. Third-Party Services

• Supabase: Authentication and database hosting
• Anthropic: Powers The Guide and Scripture Search (no personal data is sent — only the text of your question)
• RevenueCat: Subscription management
• Apple / Google: Social authentication and app distribution
• HelloAO / Bolls.life: Bible verse APIs

6. Children's Privacy

Lumen is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

7. Your Rights

• Access: You can view your profile data at any time in the app
• Correction: You can update your display name, username, and email in settings
• Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the profile screen. This action is irreversible.
• Export: Contact us to request an export of your data

8. Ads

Free users may see limited, non-targeted ads. We do not use your personal data for ad targeting. Ads are removed entirely with Lumen+.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Lumen after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
